Carma Douglass Bowers, age 85, passed away peacefully August 3, 1991, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born February 11, 1906, in Smithfield, Utah, to George and Julia Amelia Cragun Douglass. She married Douglass Pixton Bowers on June 2, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple: he preceded her in death on July 9, 1959. Attended Weber Academy and the University of Utah, graduating with a degree in Elementary Education. She has taught school in Tropic, Vernon and Salt Lake City, Utah for many years. Active member of the LDS Church, she served in numerous capacities including singing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for 25 years. Survived by a son and three daughters, Joyce Bowers, Donna (and Terry) Harding, Doug (and Linda) Bowers and Eunice (and David) Black; a son-in-law, Charles W. Peters; 28 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; as well as, a sister, Mae D. (and Carlyle) Felt. Preceded in death by a daughter, Carma Jane Peters; a grandson; a sister; and two brothers.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 6, 11 am, at the Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Interment in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
