Emmett L. Wiggins, beloved father, husband, grandfather, companion and friend, died August 3, 1991, after a courageous battle with cancer at the family home in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born April 18, 1922, at Ogden, Utah, to Wheatley LeRoy and Mary Montgomery Wiggins. Married Barbara Ogden, of Richfield, Utah, September 28, 1945, in the Manti LDS TempleWell known as a promising young violinist in the Ogden area; a student of the late Reginald Beales; performed solos at various civic, community and church activities. Member of original Utah Symphony under Hans Heniot and Honolulu Stake Symphony.

Graduate of Ogden High School ('40), with scholastic scholarships to Weber Junior College ('42), University of Southern California ('43) and the University of Utah ('44) with Bachelor and Master of Arts Degrees in Basic Biological Sciences, Genetics and Education. Member of the National Honor Society and Sigma Ki (science). Played 1st cornet in the U.P. Rodeo Band.

An Eagle Scout (Ogden); held many and varied positions in the LDS Church at Ward, Stake and Branch levels: including Stake Executive Secretary, counselors, High Priest group leader, quorum committee representative, MIA, and Education Specialist and coordinator. Participated in several church plays. A member of the Ensign Peak Ward High Priest Group and Sons of Utah Pioneers. Held priesthood leadership positions in Ogden Third Ward; member of the Ogden Tabernacle Choir and Salt Lake City Swanees Male Chorus.

As a career, Civil Servant in Federal Government; served as a Position Classification Specialist and supervisor in DOD agencies (Army, Air Force and Navy) for 30 years. Traveled considerably in such capacities (Salary and Wage, Personnel Management and Employee Utilization and Qualifications) throughout U.S. and Hawaii. Received several outstanding job commendations and promotions. A World War II Veteran.

Survived by wife, Barbara; three sons: Craig, Brad and Scott; five grandsons: Brian, Jason, Joshua, Jeromy and Cord; and daughters-in-law: Cynthia Warren Wiggins and Jenny Lynn Campbell Wiggins, all of Salt Lake City.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 7th, 12 Noon, in the Ensign Peak Ward, 125 East North Sandrun Road (1000 No.). Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Tuesday evening 6-8 PM, and at the Ward on Wednesday, from 11-11:45 AM. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
