Douglas Meek Moore, Attorney and Retired Regional Director of IRS Appeals, died at his home on Tuesday, August 27, 1991, he was 64.
Douglas Moore was born in Lewiston, Utah, on December 9, 1916. He was raised in Ogden and received his Law Degree from the University of Utah in 1951. Mr. Moore went on to receive his Masters of Law in Taxation from George Washington University in 1954. He was a veteran of World War II; affiliated with Sigma Alpha Epsilon; a member of the Utah State Bar and was licensed to practice before the Supreme Court.Mr. Moore began his career in Dallas as an attorney for the Chief Counsels Office of the Internal Revenue Service. He married Marion Tillotson in Dallas, on April 3, 1956.
Mr. Moore held the positions of Senior Attorney of Chief Counsel in San Francisco; Senior Appeals Conferee, Salt Lake City; Assistant Chief of Appeals, Greensboro, North Carolina; Coordinator for the Director of Appeals and participated in Executive Development Program, Washington, D.C.
Mr. Moore and his family returned to Dallas in 1972. He held the positions of Chief of Appeals 1972-73; Executive Assistant to Assistant Regional Commissioner of Appeals, 1973-1975; and Regional Director of Appeals 1975-82.
In January of 1982, Mr. Moore accepted the position of U.S. Revenue Representative for Northwestern Europe and Attache at the Paris Embassy in Paris, France until May 1984 when he and his wife returned to their home in Dallas.
Surviving are his wife, Marion Tillotson Moore, Dallas; two sons, Douglas Eric Moore and Kirkmichel T. Moore, Both of Dallas; daughtrer, Katrina M. Starkweather, Arlington, Texas; brother, Rodger M. Moore, Arlington, Virginia; two sisters, Virginia M. Benson, Arlington, Virginia; Gloria Lamph, Ogden; three grandsons, Austin Moore, Dyan Moore, Preston Moore; granddaughter, Mackenzie Moore.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
