Auditions have been scheduled for two upcoming productions, listing titles, audition dates, casting requirements, directors, performance dates and other information.
- THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA on Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 5 until 9:30 p.m. on City Rep's Court Stage, 148 S. Main St.Adapted by City Rep from Gaston Leroux's popular novel, this is NOT the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical.
All roles are open. Director Joanne M. Parker said there are roles for 20 men, ages 18-50, and 10 women, ages 16-50. Performers with some operatic experience are needed for a few roles. Those playing the new and old owners of the Paris Opera should have French accents. Ballet dancers are also required for the corps de ballet.
"Phantom" will run for nine performances from Oct. 12 through 15, take a brief hiatus for City Rep's annual production of "Babes in Toyland," then resume for seven more performances from Jan. 4 through 11. There may also be additional school performances on weekday mornings at 11:30 p.m.
Auditioners will be asked to give a 30-second dramatic monologue. For further information, call 532-6000.
- THE GOOD DOCTOR on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 3-4, from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Magna Recreation Center, 2941 S. 9150 West.
The Neil Simon comedy is being produced by Little Theatre West (formerly the Pleasant Green Theatre Company and, before that, the Top Hat Theatre Company).
Dawna Perkins, managing director, said three men and three women of varying ages are needed for the play. Auditioners may do either a prepared monologue or cold readings from the script.
