National Football League owners are expected to vote to cancel the 1992 World League of American Football season when they meet this afternoon in Dallas, according to a published report.

The New York Daily News reported that the NFL which it said lost $15 million on the WLAF in its first season, will likely suspend operations for next season with the intent of resuming in 1993. The newspaper said there does not appear to be enough NFL owners willing to vote an favor of the WLAF playing in 1992.The Daily News said that NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue wants to create a division overseeing all of the league's international activities, the WLAF, the American Bowl series and product merchandising.

The NFL would also avoid marketing competition with the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, by suspending operations.

The WLAF began play this year with teams in London; Barcelona; Frankfurt, Germany; New York-New Jersey; Orlando, Fla.; Montreal; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; Birmingham, Ala.; Sacramento, Calif., and San Antonio.
