Keith Jorgensen will open a 15,000 square-foot piano superstore and dedicate a recital hall at 5478 Green St. on Friday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. with Murray Mayor Lynn Pett participating in a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The new music store is the largest of Jorgensen's 12 outlets and the only one to have a recital hall. The Gladys Gladstone Recital Hall is named for a professor of music at the University of Utah and prominent local piano instructor.Performing at the grand opening will be the Mu Phi Epsilon Piano Quartet and two of Gladstone's current students, Susy Winegar and Monte Caldwell.
The grand opening will begin two weeks of free concerts and workshops including an organ concert by Lowrey touring artist Sandy McCown on Sept. 10 and a Yamaha clavinova concert by Robert Hacker of Yamaha on Sept. 17. All of the events start at 7 p.m. and the public is invited.
Jorgensen said use of the recital hall is free to any Salt Lake area piano instructor for holding student recitals. Reservations can be made by calling 967-2200.
Gladstone won the National Young Artists competition in New York City, has performed 17 times with the Utah Symphony, performed with other symphonies and received a Distinguished Service Teaching Award from the U.
