Karen W. Beaver, professor of nursing at Weber State University, has been named chairwoman of the Council of Practical Nursing Program of the National League of Nursing.

Beaver, 55, will serve as head of the nursing advocacy group until June 1993.Beaver has been teaching practical nursing at Weber State since 1963. She is a 1957 graduate of Weber State. She also holds nursing and education degrees from the University of Utah and Brigham Young University.

Membership in the National League of Nursing is open to anyone interested in promoting health care through nursing. Founded in 1952, the organization is primarily concerned with educating nurses and improving the quality of U.S. health care.
