Light bollards are springing up all over the southeast plaza at the Delta Center, which will house Utah Jazz and Salt Lake Golden Eagles games beginning this year. The plaza will contain about 180 tree planters, each with a light bollard and sprinkling system. Raised benches will be placed around several of the planters. Tom Mabey of Sahara Construction said crews remain on target for an Oct. 4 completion. Jazz officials plan a series of activities beginning Oct. 9, with a public open house Oct. 11 and 12. While the fast-track construction mode used at the Delta Center is not new, Mabey said, the 22,000-seat arena is probably the largest Salt Lake project to use that method of construction.
