To the editor:

My concern is that until our city fathers admit that they do not know the solution for gang-related crime in the streets of Salt Lake City that a lot of bandages are going to be used up trying to patch the little wounds all over the city.It boils down finally that a battleground other than the city streets could be provided, say some mountains and fields near the city.

Each gang could show up, bring weapons of war and a large prize be provided. After one week of fighting, the winners would get the spoils, if any are left.

This could be openly prepared for, say, three times a year. No innocents could be hurt and the gangs taste for blood could be satisfied against each other.
