Frederick H. Thornell, 83, passed away August 31, 1991 in Salt Lake City.

He was born June 2, 1908 in Trealaw, South Wales to Edwin and Amelia Thornell.He is survived by his wife, Jean Ross; his sister, Amelia; his sons, David and Peter; his nephews, Michael, Nigel, Gareth, and Edwin; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle Tudball, his brothers, Reg, Cyril and Will; and his granddaughter,

Stacey.

He immigrated to South Africa during the depression and returned to England prior to WW II, where he served in the Home Guard. Upon the death of his first wife, he and his two sons immigrated in 1953 to Salt Lake City, where he has lived since. He retired from Utah Power & Light in 1972, and spent his retirement in travel and in enjoying the companionship of good friends and good music.

A memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 4, at the Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive, SLC, with interment at the Sunset Lawn Cemetery, 2350 East 1300 South. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 12-1 p.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Heart Fund.
