The Utah Small Business Development Center will begin a series of sack-lunch business management training sessions Tuesday. A second series is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 4, at USBDC headquarters in Suite 315 of the Knowledge Data Systems Building, 102 W. 500 South.

Karen Gollaher, supervisor of training for the center, said the series beginning Tuesday focuses on information required to research and write business plans. The class will meet five consecutive Tuesdays from noon to 2 p.m. Discussion topics include "Defining Your Product or Service," "Financial Statements," "Financial Planning and Resources," "Market Definition and Strategy" and "Management Issues."The second series, beginning Sept. 4, will target development of sales skills. The class will meet five consecutive Wednesdays from noon to 2 p.m. Discussion topics will include "Game Planning for Sales," "Effective Prospecting," "Preparing a Winning Presentation," "Objections: Are They Obstacles or Opportunities?" and "Time and Territory Management for Sales."

USBDC is partially funded by the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business and the State Department of Community and Economic Development. Funding is also received from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
