If you're interested in becoming a museum tour guide - formally called a docent - the University of Utah has a class for you.

The U. Museum of Natural History is offering a 29-week course in natural history that will qualify the participants to become docents.Taught by U. faculty and other experts, the course will provide an overview of natural history topics that will allow museum guides to speak from their own knowledge rather than give canned speeches, said volunteer coordinator Joyce Green.

The class will meet on Tuesday afternoons from Oct. 3 to April 9. The sessions will be videotaped and shown on Thursday nights for those who cannot attend in the afternoons. The cost is $66.
