The 26th annual Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon collected a record $45,071,857 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The national telethon aired live from the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas over the holiday weekend. Local segments of the telethon were broadcast by KTVX from the 49th Street Galleria.Locally, the telethon raised more than $308,000. Donations are still being accepted by the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

All local money remains in the state to help local residents afflicted with any of the 40 neuromuscular diseases.
