A 3-year-old Mapleton, Utah County, girl was killed Saturday near Duchesne when the off-road vehicle she and four others were riding on tipped over backward.
Amber Loy died about 4:30 p.m. of injuries she suffered in the accident. She was riding the ORV in front of her father, Clay Foy. Three other children were riding behind the elder Foy.A Utah Highway Patrol dispatcher said the ORV went up a steep hill on private property about one mile north of Duchesne when it tipped over backwards, landing on the 3-year-old. The victim was not wearing a helmet as required by state law.
The others riding on the ORV were not injured.
