Three associate professors at the University of Utah College of Nursing have been appointed to administrative posts.

Sue Huether has been named associate dean for academic affairs; Kathi Mooney is director of the division of parent-child and adult nursing, and Beth Vaughan-Cole directs the division of social and behavioral systems.Huether, a faculty member since 1975, will be responsible for nursing students, faculty and curriculum in the bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs. She previously was coordinator of the nurse practitioner master's program, coordinator of the adult physiological nursing specialty, and director of the division of parent-child and adult nursing.

In February 1991, she was the first recipient of an award from the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery for excellence in laser nursing.

Mooney is an expert in pediatric and adult cancer-patient nursing and heads the new master's emphasis in oncology nursing at the college. She was co-founder of Hospice of Salt Lake City in 1977, and is national chair of the Oncology Nursing Society Research Committee.

In her new post, Vaughan-Cole will oversee psychosocial, community health, nurse practitioner, administration and teaching programs in the college. A faculty member since 1971, she directs the pre- and post-doctoral program in family nursing research. Her research has focused on mother-child interaction in young families, single-parent families and families of divorced parents.
