The "Share the Harvest" program sponsored by Utahns Against Hunger is preparing to begin its 10th year.

Through September, home gardeners are encouraged to donate fruits and vegetables for distribution to people in need throughout the state.The efforts by the home gardeners will be supplemented by the LDS Church, which is donating supplies of cheese, meats and soap, and by federal commodities of rice, flour, split peas and raisins. Commercial growers, food wholesalers and grocery stores are also expected to donate to the effort.

Twelve distribution sites are planned including four in the Salt Lake area, Ogden, Provo, Price, Layton, Richfield, Delta, Mt. Pleasant and Roosevelt.

Donations will be received at Utahns Against Hunger offices, 845 W. 100 South; Carbon County Food Bank, 175 S. 100 West, Price; Cache County Food Bank, 170 N. Main, Logan; Dixie Care and Share, 131 N. 300 West, St. George; Iron County Care and Share, 140 E. 400 South, Cedar City; and Grand County Food Bank, 128 E. 100 North, Moab.
