During this year's Annual University Conference, Brigham Young University awarded its highest awards for staff and administrative employees to Belva Hunter Burgess and Delora P. Bertelsen.
Burgess, secretary to the linguistics department in BYU's College of Humanities, received the Fred A. Schwendiman Performance Award, which annually recognizes exemplary staff employees.A native of Redding, Calif., she has worked in the linguistics department for nine years.
Bertelsen, assistant to the dean of the Marriott School of Management, is the recipient of the Ben E. Lewis Management Award, which honors outstanding management achievements of administrative employees.
She began her association with BYU's College of Business in July 1976, working over the years with four deans.
Bertelsen was also instrumental in the formal opening of the Tanner Building, home of the Marriott School of Management, and helps with hosting for the annual visits of the school's National Advisory Council.
