Deseret News photographers dominated the winners' circle in the press photography division of the 1991 Utah State Fair: They took 16 awards.

Thirty-five photographs were entered in the press division, according to William L. Duncan, photography supervisor at the fair."The quality of photographs submitted was exceptional and very diverse. The competition was very stiff," Duncan said.

Salt Lake Tribune photographer Steve Griffin took the overall grand prize with a color panning shot of bicyclists racing. Griffin also received the Judges' Choice award for a photograph titled "Bike Racing Color."

Deseret News photographer Gary McKellar took best-of-show honors in press photography for a black and white shot of a paraplegic man rappelling down a wall in a wheelchair. The picture is titled "Wheelchair Rock Climber."
