Search teams are looking for a 34-year-old Utah man who hadn't returned for three days to his parked car with two dogs in it.

Grand Teton National Park officials and Teton County Sheriff's deputies still were unsure Friday whether Jeffrey Ebble was actually missing or whether there was some logical explanation for his disappearance. However, they became suspicious when the abandoned dogs were found dehydrated in Ebble's vehicle, according to Undersheriff Bob Rust.

"Because of those circumstances, we have initiated a search and are not sure at all where he might have gone or if he is, in fact, missing," Rust said.

Ebble, of Salt Lake City, was seen "alive and well" as recently as Wednesday but the search resumed early Friday as a precaution, he said.

Rust said the search area is rugged and rocky terrain frequented by rock climbers just southwest of the Grand Targhee ski area. Ebble's car contained gear suggesting he was a rock climber.
