Two trains crashed head-on overnight in this Central African nation, and the transport minister said Friday more than 100 people were killed.
Sources said about 50 of the 66 people hospitalized after the accident were in critical condition."This toll is still provisional," Transport Minister Demba Thelo told reporters when he announced more than 100 people had been killed. He spoke at the accident scene near Dolisie, more than 250 miles south of Brazzaville.
A passenger train traveling from the Atlantic Ocean port of Pointe Noire collided with a goods train carrying timber from Brazzaville, officials said.
