Officers from three law enforcement agencies raided a South Salt Lake home Friday night and arrested 16 people in connection with an alleged gambling operation.
About 30 officers from South Salt Lake, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department and Salt Lake City broke down the door of a residence at 448 E. Warnock (2440 South) about 9:30 and found a group playing a card game called Texas holdem, according to Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Jay Labram.Labram said the raid was the result of a three-month investigation by the law enforcement agencies prompted by complaints from neighbors. Among those arrested were two brothers and their wives who officers believe are principals in the operation.
Labram said the investigators have identified about 50 people they believe are involved in the gambling operation, which is apparently not related to other gambling rings in the area.
