Salt Lake Mayor Deedee Corradini and her staff are officially drug free.

Officials said Thursday the new mayor and her staff submitted to drug tests required of all new city employees. As mayor, she could have changed the drug-testing policy and exempted herself and her staff. But her press aide, Thom Dillon, said she wanted her staff to set an example."She thought it would be a good message to give to the people," he said.

The tests were performed by the Holy Cross Industrial Clinic, and the results were given to the city's acting personnel director, Frank Fraser. He said the results were confidential but said any employee showing traces of illegal drug abuse would be terminated.

Dillon said all the mayor's staff, including the mayor, passed the test.
