Carl G. Nelson, age 96, passed away peacefully in his home on January 11, 1992, lovingly encompassed by family.

Carl was born on January 26, 1895 to Nils Peter Johnsson and Bernhardina Bengtsdotter on a farm in Flyholmen, Hishult, Sweden. He came to the United States in 1914 at the age of 19 years. He served in the U.S. army in World War I. He spent most of his life after this service in Walsenberg and Pueblo, Colorado. For the last eight years he lived in Sandy, Utah with family.Carl gave life-long service and was past Master in the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the LDS Church since 1987. Carl was preceded in death by his beloved wife Agnes.

He is survived by his first wife Edith, and their children, Lila Lee Stewart and Son Carl G. Nelson, Jr. all of California.

He is also survived by three children from his marriage to Agnes: David Nelson and Carla A. Nelson of Lakewood, Colo.; and J. Eric Nelson of Sandy. There are also 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by five of of seven siblings: brothers, John W. Nelson of Lakewood, Colo.; and Erik and David Nilsson of Sweden; sisters, Edith Johansson, and Jenny Gustafson of Sweden.

Carl leaves a legacy of the virtues of patience, self-discipline, hard work and gratitude. He will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 14, 1992, at 11:00 a.m., at the Canyon View Stake Center, 9140 South 13th East, Sandy, Utah. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. to service time. Interment will be held at Roselawn Cemetery in Pueblo, Colorado on Wednesday, January 15, 1992 (Time to be announced.) Memorial Estates Mortuary, Murray, serving the family and Montgomery Steward Funeral directors, Pueblo, Colorado.
