Dwain C. Barker, 75, passed away peacefully January 11,1992, in a Salt Lake hospital.

Born Feb. 26, 1916, Price Utah, to John Wesley and Sarah M. Patton Barker. He married Marjorie Krause in 1943, in Denver, Colorado; later divorced. He married Dixie L. Whitney in 1950, in Provo, Utah; later divorced. Served his country in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1936 and in the Army Air Force 1940-45, in the European Theater. Graduated from B.Y.U. in Fine Arts and completed the Famous Artists Schools program by correspondence. He was a school teacher for the Garfield, San Juan and Grand County School Districts. Later he worked for the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management. Member of the LDS Church. Member of the Elk's Club, the Toastmaster's International Club, the American Legion and the VFW. An avid skier, swimmer and music lover. He was a member of Salt Lake Harmonica Band and the local chapter of the National Old Time Fiddler's Assoc. He was an artist and painter and won local and state awards for his ceramics, sculptures and photography.Survived by a son, Whitney Barker, Salt Lake City; two daughters, Vicki J. Barker and ViviAnn Rose both Moab; a special niece, Tamara L. Troester, Salt Lake City, who lived with the family many years; three brothers, Marvin and Raymond Barker, both Price and Clarence "Sandy" Barker, Springville; and a sister, Mable Shoemaker, West Jordan. Also surviving was a very dear friend and traveling companion, Mary Bohn, Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by daughter, Cheryl D. Barker; and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 16, 11 a.m., Canyon Road Ward, 135 "A"Street, where friends may call for one hour prior to the services. Interment: Utah Veteran's Memorial Park. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Funeral Chapel.
