Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Rue Barron Dastrup, age 71, passed away January 11, 1992, in Salt Lake City.
Born June 5, 1920, in Sigurd, Utah, to Joel Peter and Phoebe Pearl Barron Dastrup. Married Shirlee Olsen, December 3, 1941, in Preston, Idaho; marriage solemnized Salt Lake LDS Temple, January 25, 1942. Captain in U.S. Army during World War II. Graduated from U of U, in marketing and finance and also the New York School of Finance. Active member LDS Church. Former LDS Bishop in Auburn, California. Served on North Sacramento Stake High Council and Mt. Olympus Stake High Council, Salt Lake City. Prominent, inovative Salt Lake City businessman, chairman of a state of the art robotics firm. He taught his children that anything they could conceive they could also achieve. Outstanding quality of unselfishness and giving.Survived by his wife, after 50 years of marriage; children, Sherrie and Bob Thornton, Lindsay and Rick Powell, Lincoln and Linda Dastrup, all of Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson. Preceded in death by a brother, Keith Dastrup and sister, Delcia Day.
Funeral services 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 1992, Little Cottonwood 20th Ward, 6350 South Rodeo Lane (1540 East), Salt Lake City. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, Salt Lake. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
