Millions of American families are vulnerable to financial ruin from the cost of long-term care, according to the American Association of Retired Persons. Free public seminars on planning for long-term care will be conducted by the Ririe Financial Planning Institute, a firm of certified financial planners who specialize in long-term care.

It is estimated that 43 percent of those reaching age 65 will enter a nursing home at some time. Topics include using Medicaid but preserving assets for a spouse or family, proper titling of property before entering a home and using Medicaid qualifying trusts.Seminars will be held Jan. 23 at the East Millcreek Library, 2266 E.
