Two burglary suspects were in jail Saturday after leading a Salt Lake County deputy sheriff on a high-speed chase through the county.

Sheriff Aaron Kennard said deputy Jim Winder witnessed a burglary in progress at Apple Food Store, 1300 E. 3300 S., about 4:45 a.m. Saturday. When he tried to approach the two suspects, they jumped into a vehicle and sped from the parking lot.During the chase, Winder identified the vehicle as having been stolen. The vehicle ran a red light and traveled at a high rate of speed throughout the chase. The chase ended when the driver lost control of the car and hit a home at 935 S. 900 West.

Both suspects, an adult and a juvenile, ran from the crash site and Winder released his police dog, which was able to capture the adult suspect. Other officers captured the 14-year-old suspect, he said. Both were arrested.
