Mazio Royster, who became only the third Southern Cal sophomore to surpass the 1,000-yard mark in rushing when he gained 1,168 yards in 1990, announced he will pass up his final season of eligibility to enter the NFL draft. Royster rushed for 542 yards last season after sustaining an early-season knee injury.

Also, in Lincoln, Neb., Cornhuskers' tight end Johnny Mitchell annnouned he's passing up his final season of eligibility to enter the NFL draft. He had 31 receptions for 534 yards and five touchdowns last season.Locally . . .
