One of two lawsuits hindering George Steinbrenner's possible return to baseball has been settled, a lawyer said.

The lawsuit claimed that a transcription company altered testimony Steinbrenner gave to commissioner Fay Vincent during an investigation into the Yankee owner's dealings with gambler Howie Spira.Arthur Christy, a lawyer for Esquire Reporting Co., said a settlement agreement was reached, but the commissioner's office said it hadn't received notice that the litigation was discontinued.
