"Shaping Utah for a Changing Global Economy" is the theme of the Governor's Conference on Economic Development March 5-7 in St. George.
On Thursday, March 5, at 1 p.m. in the Dixie Center, the International Office of the U.S. Department of Commerce will hold a seminar on exporting. At 6:45 p.m. Hyrum Smith, president and chief executive officer of Franklin International Institute, will speak followed at 7:45 p.m. by a panel discussion featuring Kelly Matthews, chief economist for First Security Bank; R. Thayne Robson, director of the University of Utah Bureau of Business and Economic Research; and Jeff Thredgold, chief economist for Key Bank.During a luncheon on Friday, March 6, Gov. Norm Bangerter will present the Business Development Award; the Ethnic Young Achiever Award; the Collegiate Enterpriser Award; and the Young Entrepreneur Award. The governor also will deliver a luncheon address.
