About 12 organizations interested in marking and preserving historic trails have reached agreement to work together on various projects.

The agreement formalizing the Heritage Trails Consortium will be signed Tuesday during an 11 a.m. ceremony at Pioneer Trail State Park at the mouth of Emigration Canyon. Gov. Norm Bangerter is expected to attend the ceremony.Max Evans, director of the Utah Division of State History, said the effort is intended to coordinate the activities of the various groups. He said such a coordinated effort will eliminate duplicated efforts and allow the groups to work together on common projects.

"This is a good example of the positive things that can happen when you form partnerships," Evans said.
