The city, in cooperation with the Clearfield Area Chamber of Commerce, has announced a new set of programs designed to promote community pride.

Citizens and businesses can now adopt a street or a tree. Some city residents have expressed previous interest in such programs, and they are now encouraged to follow through on this by contacting the city. Civic groups, schools, school groups, church groups, Scout groups and individuals are all encouraged to participate in the programs. All sponsors willing to adopt a street will be required to comply with the guidelines set forth by the Utah State Adopt-A-Highway program. Signs displaying the organization name will be placed on each end of the street. No group will be responsible for more than two miles of litter control.

Sponsors who wish to adopt a tree will have their name placed on a sign in a central location of the city.

Signs for both street and tree adoptions will be erected as soon as weather permits.

Individuals or groups interested in participating in the adoption programs should contact Kay Chandler at 774-7209 or Janie Albrechtsen at 773-3233.

Albrechtsen, a public relations specialist, will oversee the project under the direction of Chandler and Jack Bippes, city manager.

These projects are part of an overall campaign designed to encourage support of Clearfield businesses.
