A Salt Lake woman who admitted trying to kill a Woods Cross man last fall by hitting him in the head with a hammer was sent to the Utah State Prison's diagnostic center for a 90-day evaluation Tuesday by a 2nd District judge.

Judge Rodney S. Page said he wants more information about Wendy L. Hansen, 34, before deciding her final sentence. Hansen is scheduled to return for sentencing April 28.She was charged with hitting Roy Ford in the back of the head with a hammer after Ford let her into his Woods Cross apartment Oct. 31. She had knocked on the door, asking to use the telephone, according to police reports.

Hansen was originally charged with attempted homicide and burglary, both second-degree felonies, and an additional charge of false registration of a vehicle, also a second-degree felony.
