In an effort to address all concerns regarding design and construction of the Jordanelle Dam, members of Utah's congressional delegation will hold a field hearing Saturday, Feb. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Wasatch High School, 64 E. 600 South.

Critics of the dam and a panel of expert witnesses will testify about the safety of the dam and other related questions.Utah Sens. Jake Garn and Orrin Hatch, both R-Utah, Rep. Jim Hansen, R-Utah, and Rep. Wayne Owens, D-Utah, and Bill Orton, D-Utah, will host the hearing, which is intended to address all concerns regarding the safety of the dam and discuss the findings of numerous reports and studies, all of which have concluded that Jordanelle Dam is structurally sound. The hearing will be held under the jurisdiction of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and will be chaired by Garn, a member of the committee.

The delegation wishes to emphasize that this hearing is the latest in a united attempt by the members to provide an open, public review of the facts surrounding the development of the Jordanelle Dam site.
