To the editor:
Warmest congratulations to the LDS Church for sending 40,000 pounds of food and supplies last month to the anonymous hungry and suffering this winter in what was the USSR.And now comes an opportunity offered to members and others to send a contribution to "humanitarian services," 50 E. North Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84150. In 1985, millions of dollars of such contributions went through Catholic Charities from the LDS Church to assuage the Ethiopian famine. In 1992, in a very changed world, we have a chance to be a personal part of sending items like food, syringes, rubber gloves, baby formula to a newly born democracy flailing in the deprivation of 74 years of now-dead communism.
"For unto the least of these . . . " and the most of these can come urgent offerings through our privilege of having a way to give.
