Hundreds of angry motorcyclists roared into California's capital this week to demand that lawmakers repeal the state's new mandatory helmet law, and the man who wrote the legislation, Democratic Assemblyman Richard Floyd, met them on the Capitol steps with a vow never to reverse himself. Instead, he advised them to "ride the damn thing around their bedroom" if they want the wind in their hair. Most of the cyclists drove out of town with helmets on.
