A second woman is set to join the City Council.
Council members Wednesday named Jane Carlile to succeed Don Butler, who resigned Sept. 15. She will be sworn in at Tuesday's council meeting.Carlile applied for the position because of a "genuine interest in the growth and development in the city. I think it's a great place." Carlile, her husband, Craig, and their three children have lived in Provo 15 years.
A full-time homemaker, Carlile spends much of her free time as a volunteer. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology and social work from Utah State University.
Carlile said she has no specific direction in which she wants to move the city and has no pet projects.
"I think they're doing a lot of good," she said.
Carlile beat out 24 applicants for the position.
Shari Holweg is the other woman serving on the seven-member council.
