A man was hit and killed while walking in traffic on I-15 just after 5 a.m. Sunday.

Darrell Henderson, 27, was walking south near the freeway rest stop in American Fork when he was hit by a northbound car driven by Brian Baarz, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.Baarz stopped and was trying to direct traffic away from Henderson when a diesel truck also hit Henderson.

The UHP did not have information about where Baarz lives and was still working Monday to determine where Henderson lived. Henderson had identification showing a Salt Lake address, but troopers could find no evidence he lived there. They believe he might have lived in New Mexico but have not been able to confirm an address there or locate any next of kin.

Troopers did not find a vehicle that might have belonged to Henderson and have no clues about why he might have been walking in the area.
