A gunman stole more than $15,000 worth of diamonds Tuesday from a man who sells the gems from his home.

The man set up an appointment to look at diamonds he said were for his wife's ring. After returning to the home near 5600 South and 3000 East for a second time, the man looked at the diamonds for several minutes then pulled out a small chrome-plated revolver. The robber stuck the gun into the 34-year-old man's side and told him not to do anything dumb, a Salt Lake County sheriff's report states. He bound the victim's hands together with a pair of flexcuffs, ordered him to get on the floor and ran out the door with nine loose diamonds.
