Actor Arnold Schwarz-eneg-ger and talk-show host Arsenio Hall were among celebrities kicking off the second annual Inner-City Games in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Schwarzenegger, perhaps the country's best-known fitness buff, is the executive commissioner of the games, which include 10 events in basketball, baseball, boxing, karate, volleyball, soccer, flag football, weightlifting and girls' softball. The nine-day event was started last year in East Los Angeles by a neighborhood youth center director. Now, six months after the deadly riots raised awareness of the plight of inner-city youths, more than 5,000 people attended the opening ceremonies, and 4,500 kids were set to compete.
