DON’T GAMBLE ON UTAH’S FUTURE

SHARE DON’T GAMBLE ON UTAH’S FUTURE

Pari-mutuel gambling is not good for the citizens of Utah. Those who support this issue would have us believe that it will bring tourist dollars to the state.

Why would anyone come to Utah when they can gamble in their own states? Forty-eight of the 50 states allow some form of gambling. The inherent risks involved with gambling are not worth any perceived benefit. The horse industry and the people associated with it are an asset to the state, and every effort should be made to support them. However, gambling, with all of its social costs, is not the answer.

We have the opportunity to exercise our freedom of choice this November at the ballot box. Our choice should be to preserve the quality of life that we now enjoy.
