The National Rifle Association is urging its 17,000 members in Utah to vote for Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Leavitt.
Mark Greenberg, director of state and local affairs for the NRA, said Leavitt was endorsed because he is committed to the protection of individual liberties protected in the Second Amendment."We hope that our Utah membership will turn out to support Leavitt in the general election on Nov. 3, 1992," Greenberg said. "He is a firm believer in the conservative ideals that made this nation great."
Greenberg also said Leavitt, when matched against the other candidates, has personal qualifications, support for individual liberties and solid proposals to improve the quality of life in Utah, which made the endorsement decision easy for the board.
