LIGHT RAIL IS THE WRONG SOLUTION

SHARE LIGHT RAIL IS THE WRONG SOLUTION

The UTA "Transition" mailer and UTA's other propaganda completely ignore several important facts:

1. Their main objective of getting cars off the streets cannot be met if people have to travel an average of two miles just to reach the light-rail line.2. If the objective is to get cars off the streets, why not simply expand the present bus line - expansion that must be done in order to make light rail viable?

3. More and more businesses are moving to central-valley locations, simply to avoid downtown congestion. Salt Lake City is no longer the focal point of the entire valley.

4. Utah does not have the high numbers of low-income workers who traditionally support mass transit.

5. Our cities and county should concentrate on improving existing arterials to ease pressure on I-15, including adoption of key one-way streets.
