On Tuesday, voters will determine whether they will go SFTA - Spanish Fork Transit Authority.
City officials have put a measure on the ballot to create a city-owned and operated mass-transit system, which would be funded by a 0.25 percent increase in the city's sales tax. That increase would fund the system, which would be free to residents and would have wheelchair lifts for the physically impaired.Opponents, however, say the city would be best served by annexing into the Utah Transit Authority, which would include destinations outside of the city, including local hospitals, universities and LDS temples. The the SFTA proposal is confined to city destinations for the time being; however, city officials aren't ruling out those connections eventually.
