The election is over and the casualties of battle appear. Misspent cartridges of venomous dialogue lie strewn among the shattered egos and broken hearts. Goals pursued on a road of bitterness and sore invectives have been lost and won. Tears of despair and remorse echo off walls of perceived tragedy. Exulting victory sounds have no regard for ideals or moral values.
Oh, what price unfettered pursuit of victory. The cold reflecting of reality reveals the emptiness of the prize and exacerbates galling defeat. Satisfaction of the game flees the obscure dark lake into which the lamps of truth and integrity have been blindly submerged. Some who lost, lost even more. Some who won have lost even more than those who lost. Yet the light has not abandoned us. A valued few have not succumbed. Some victorious. Some defeated. Will honor prevail? Hope and faith have a place within our hearts.
