UVCC NOMINEE IS RUNNER-UP FOR AWARD

SHARE UVCC NOMINEE IS RUNNER-UP FOR AWARD

Penny N. Healey, nominated by the Center for Personal and Career Development at Utah Valley Community College, has been named runner-up by the national organization Wider Opportunities for Women in their selection of the winners of their Grassroots Leadership Award.

Healey is facilitator for the "Women in Apprenticeships" program at UVCC, which helps women understand and gain access to occupations in trades through apprenticeships. She is also a probation and parole officer for the Utah State Department of Corrections and supervises 140 parolees and/or probationers.She has completed an associate of applied science degree in business administration from UVCC and a bachelor of science degree in criminal psychology from Weber State University. At the same time, she was raising five children and working in many nontraditional jobs, including brick hoddy, boilermaker helper, garbage collector and prison guard.
