SHARE S.L. DIRECTOR OF REGIONAL AARP OFFICE WILL HEAD UTAH GERONTOLOGICAL SOCIETY

Lee White, Salt Lake City, has been elected president of the Utah Gerontological Society. White is area director of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) Region 8 office, which oversees volunteer activities in Utah, Wyoming, Montana and Colorado.

The society is a recently formed organization with more than 400 members who are professionals or students in the field of aging. The group wants to provide a forum to exchange information, promote gerontological research and knowledge and advocate for issues of concern to senior citizens.White earned his master's degree in sociology and a graduate certificate in gerontology from the University of Utah. He was director of the multi-ethnic senior citizen high rise and a planner for Salt Lake County Aging Services before joining AARP.

Other officers are Dale Lund, Salt Lake City, president-elect; Joyce Smith, Bountiful, secretary; and Cosette Mills, Provo, treasurer. Members at large who will serve as liaisons and representatives are Sara Sinclair, Logan; Maughan Guymon, Price; Jean Herring, St. George; and Carolyn Hunter, Salt Lake City. Denise Liley, University of Utah, was elected student representative.
