Santa and Mrs. Claus come to town with their elves aboard a float in West Valley City's 25th annual Santa Christmas Parade Friday morning. Several thousand spectators lined the sunny-but-chilly route from Granger High to Valley Fair Mall to greet the jolly harbinger of Christmas and his entourage of marching bands, dance troupes, equestrians, dignitaries and commercial floats. Snoopy of the Peanuts comic strip served as the grand marshal of what sponsors now bill as Utah's biggest Christmas parade. "From what we've seen so far, we expect a great retail season," said Jill Ellis, executive director of the Valley West Chamber of Commerce.
