McDonald's, the worldwide burger giant that has planted its golden arches in Paris, Rome and Moscow, has decided after years of hesitation to serve Big Macs in the Holy Land, published reports said Thursday.

The multinational fast-food chain will open its first Israeli branch in Tel Aviv and has tapped businessman Omri Padan to run the franchise, two daily newspapers reported.Israelis have always had an appetite for fast food but traditionally have favored felafel and schwarma, street snacks of Arab origins that are stuffed into pita bread.
