A task force of Hawaiian fishermen was hunting Friday to find the shark that killed an 18-year-old surfer.

They caught an 11-foot shark and a 13-footer with nets, said Pearlene Lee of the Department of Land and Natural Resources. The catch will be dissected to determine if either was responsible for the fatal attack Thursday. The state hired the fishermen after Aaron Romento of Pearl City was attacked while surfing in 5 feet of water about 10 yards offshore of Keeau Beach Park, on the west side of Oahu about 40 miles from Honolulu and the Waikiki resort area.

Romento was pulled ashore but later died.
